ADULT PROGRAMMING

A Fitness Center offers adults access to a comprehensive array of amenities, including a wide range of exercise equipment, two gyms designated for walking and basketball, and a locker room with showers and restrooms. But that's not all. We also provide an exercise room designed for stretching and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Members aged 60 and older can participate in a variety of activities, such as SilverSneakers Classic, Cardio, YogaStretch Classes, Computer Classes, Gardening, and Water Aerobics. We also provide nutritious meals in our Café for individuals aged 60 and above, offered either for a donation or free of charge.

If you are 65 years of age or older, please contact your Health Insurance provider to inquire whether it includes a fitness benefit. Sarah Heinz House recognizes the following programs: SilverSneakers, FitOn Health, Renew Active, and ASH Fitness. Additionally, individuals may join as an Adult Fitness Member for a monthly fee of $30. Membership is available to adults of all ages. Fitness hours are scheduled from Monday through Friday, between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Registration can be completed in person or online. Register in person or online HERE.

SilverSneakers® Classic (formerly Muscular Strength and Range of Movement): This program emphasizes engaging participants in music-driven exercises to enhance muscular strength, range of movement, agility, balance, coordination, and skills necessary for daily living. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® ball are included for resistance. A chair is available for seated and standing support.

SilverSneakers® Circuit (formerly Cardio Circuit): This class integrates enjoyment and fitness to improve cardiovascular strength and muscular endurance through a standing circuit workout. Participants will alternate between upper body strength exercises using handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, a ball, and non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is provided for support and head-to-toe stretching and relaxation.

SilverSneakers® Yoga (formerly YogaStretch): This program guides participants through seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support facilitates the safe performance of various postures, which aim to increase flexibility, balance, and range of motion. The class also incorporates restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation segment to promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Additionally, we have a multigenerational Learning Garden. Volunteers in the Sarah Heinz House Learning Garden can select free garden produce before making it available to others.
